Acoustic and sound design competition: revealing the talents of tomorrow
Le Mans Sonore, in partnership with Radio France, hosts one of the few French competitions dedicated specifically to sound design and acoustics. A real springboard for young creators and researchers, these competitions are aimed at students, designers, artists and engineers-in-the-making who want to bring together innovation, creativity and the sound environment.
The aim? To highlight the role of sound in our daily lives, in our objects, our spaces and our relationship with the city. Each edition invites candidates to design an original sound creation that responds to a specific issue. Sound design and acoustics are considered as disciplines in their own right, at the crossroads of art, technology and user experience.
Over the years, the winning projects have been extremely diverse: interactive prototypes, immersive devices, sensitive creations combining sound and light, urban installations and everyday objects redesigned through their sound dimension. The jury, made up of sound professionals, designers and teachers, evaluates the proposals according to their creativity, feasibility and relevance of use.
By promoting these emerging talents, Le Mans Sonore affirms its mission: to make sound a field of experimentation, innovation and design. These two competitions contribute to nurturing the local ecosystem by stimulating research and encouraging new forms of sound creation.
